In this webinar, Lauren and Marisca will explain what is Tax Migration, why client’s are considering this application as well as the process behind terminating your tax residency with the South African Reserve Bank.

They will discuss in depth, the differences in the old and new Tax Migration process, and what clients need to consider when terminating their tax residency status with SARS, especially from a Capital Gains Tax Perspective.

Some of the topics included in this webinar will be the “3 year ruling” with respect to the withdrawal of Pension Funds and Retirement annuities, which bank accounts need to be opened in the process, the process of “Belated Tax Migration” and costs applicable to this application.

About the speakers
Lauren Walker: Lauren’s enthusiasm for people, sales and numbers have been the driving force that made her excel in her financial services career. She started at 1st Contract in 2007, helping the FX team with their Business Development. She next worked at Bidvest Bank, managing the Cape Region’s Corporate FX Sales team. In 2015, she was included in the Bidvest Academy. In 2016, Lauren won the Regional Leadership Award. She then ascended to an area head-position, managing all branch and business banking in the greater Cape Region. In mid-2018, she joined Currency Partners. As the Head of Business Development at Currency Partners, Lauren can leverage her years of experience to manage and optimise sales, products and distribution, growing the business in the process.  

Marisca De Bruyn: Marisca started her career at Fininvest in 2005, which is where her love for tax developed. Marisca worked at Fininvest for 5 years, then she worked for a corporate accounting firm for 1 year after which she decided to start her own accounting practice, Mint Accounting. Mint Accounting is celebrating its 10th birthday this year and have since grown into a team of 10, who are all just as passionate about tax and accounting as she is. Marisca is an accountant and tax practitioner and holds professional memberships with SAIT and SAIBA. Marisca specialises in tax for local as well as foreign South Africans. She’s been doing financial emigration/tax migration since 2016 and have gained expert knowledge and understanding on the topic.Marisca loves to see the difference she's made in someone’s life when it comes to tax.
